Surrender and Understanding the Power within

The School of Shamanic Initiation

I am writing this review to share my experience at a retreat I attended. It is often hard for me to find time, but it was worth the effort because I learned so much about myself, about time and how I can be better in my relationships with others.

After being introduced to this whole new world by a friend, I decided that it was time for me to find out what it is really like. My first impression of the event was that there were people there who seemed happy. The overall atmosphere of this place felt welcoming which made me feel at ease as soon as I entered through the property. One thing that surprised me was how much my body needed rest after spending only two days learning from plant medicines, with no distractions from technology or social media. This completely opened up my mind to new perspectives on life and helped me focus on things more important than myself, such as connecting with others in person instead of through screens or phones. The ceremonies required endurance and focus, however I knew that I was there for the first time because I wanted to learn more about my spirituality.

The weekend started out great, as we learned more and more what we were going to do, the time for explanation, learning process and practiced it together. There was a time when things took a turn when one of the people in our group brought up politics and religion. We got through it with patience and love, it was admirable the respect of the staff and at the same time the way they hold the space for expression and healing.  Our own medicine, we have to recognize it, as shaba pointed out during the retreat.

I would recommend this retreat to anyone who has had any type of spiritual or religious upbringing, but doesn't know how they feel about themselves anymore. There were many different activities and points of views that came from all different backgrounds and shared their experiences with us which was very powerful. The experience helped me be more at peace with myself and my surroundings. It also taught me how important it is to take time for myself every day, not just when you can afford it or decide to do so on your own accord.

Amit, Drew and Mila were loving and supportive of one another no matter what. There are many ways in which you can find your spirituality, this retreat allowed me to find mine within myself through practice rather than relying on someone else's interpretation of God or religion as the only way out. Thank you to the school of shamanic initiation for doing this work!
